figuring this all out.

Okay. This is now the permanent location for all my blog updates! Hate to say it, but wordpress was really dumb. Blogspot is operated by Google- a good friend of mine once said that she believed Google was taking over the cyber world. I think she is right.

swimming against the tide//update

A quote from the book, 'Against the Tide' by David Cowie who is the founder of Marine Reach Ministries, an organization that we will be working with on DTS.
"Sometimes it takes just sheer 'grit' and raw 'courage' to get the job done. There can be nothing more terrifying than a raging storm, on a black night, in a small ship. Yet, deep within the human spirit there lies an ability to rally in the most difficult of circumstances. The pioneer swims against the tide attempting the impossible and challenging the normal."
The question is, are YOU willing to swim against the tide? Will you persevere even in the face of discouragement and failure?
In Hebrews it tells us to throw away everything that hinders and the sin that gets in the way, and just run with perseverance, the race that has already been marked out for us. This is simply my mission as I leave to New Zealand and continue on to wherever the Lord calls me to go for outreach.

24 Days until I leave. This is just over three weeks and it still seems like time is flying by. Lots of people have been asking me how I feel and if I'm excited. Yes, I am very excited!! But these emotions are accompanied by many others like a pile of anxiety. I have had an enormous amount of anxiety over the past few weeks and it has been hindering my ability to just have faith that God will provide, and carry on.
I got word from the Lord through a friend the other day that encouraged me and lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders. Yesterday afternoon I was at an event and a few of my friends there offered to pray for me and let the holy spirit set me free from these feelings. It just brings tears to my eyes to know that there are so many people that love me and support me through this all. Praise God!!
I hope you are as excited as I am and thank you to everyone who is praying for me, to the people who have already supported me financially, encouraged me, and anyone who has taken the time to read this.I truly feel the support and love in so many ways.
May he continue to bless you.

christmas?

December 15th..
Wow. today I am wondering where the time went.. life has never moved so fast for me. I think my mind has been so caught up in getting ready to leave that I haven't been able to really think about these moments that matter, and my life right now. Christmas is ten days away and I didn't even realize it until today. (..Yep.) This calls for some major slowing down and setting a different pace. Thank you to everyone who not only came to Chelsea and I's coffee house on Saturday, but for making it a huge success. The evening brought in a good chunk of money for the both of us. Some people even came from out of town to show their support. Thank you so much. We really feel the support in many different ways. We are so blessed! On that note- Financially, I am still behind. It feels so good to have all my flights paid off, and the money that came in from the coffee house made a difference, but I'm not there yet. That sheet of paper that I use to calculate all the funds I need tells me I still need over $2,500. I believe this is very do able. Its incredible how God has shown me how mighty he really is through all the support I have got and continue to get and I cannot help but be filled with joy when I am reminded of it. I ask that today you would pray about giving. I hate asking for money, but I truly believe that money is given to us to give to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Money can be such a blessing when we use it to bless others and further His kingdom. He is King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and he WILL sustain! My prayer is that today you will feel His holy presence and know that we are so fortunate to live where we do no matter what our situation may be, have food to eat every day, and clean water to drink. Give him all the praise and glory! Your sister in Christ.

thought of the day...

"Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother's womb.
I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I'd even lived one day" Psalm 139:4
God knows you. He made no mistakes when He carefully knit you together. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Give Him praise because you are a MIRACLE!

flying out!

OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED!
This week was crazy. I got my official acceptance letter from the base on Tuesday and the next day I was on the phone with Air Miles booking my flights. Which.. I do not recommend if you are flying to New Zealand.. they made it so hard for me. And so my mom and I added up all the different costs I would have to pay and surprisingly enough, it was MORE money to fly with Air Miles than just to pay for it straight up! waaah!! and I didnt think travel insurance was so expensive...
Thursday I booked my bus from Auckland to Tauranga! Get this. Ten bucks. 3 hour bus ride. YEEEEEES. That would be like.. 5 times that here! Stoked for that.
SO, on December 10th, my friend Chelsea and I are having a coffee hang out night for our trips (she is going to YWAM in Australia in February!!) at our church. We just want people to know what we are gunna be doing instead of leaving you in the dark about it all. We will have some lovely art being displayed by the incredibly talented and beautiful Lindsey Taylor and also a silent auction for some pieces of art that she has so generously donated. A couple good friends by the names of Tyler Ford and Julie Palin will be coming to share their musical gifts with us:) along with some YWAM alumni who will come and share some stories with us. and, ofcourse there will be some lovely baked goods (Gluten free as well!!) and beverages served :)
Chelsea and I invite you to come to this awesome opportunity for us to tell you what we are going to be doing in the next chapter of our lives. We are excited about our trips and want you to be a part of them! (Hence the blog.. haha!) Bring your friends, family, grandparents.. lol everyone is welcome!
So come out on December 10th! Do it!
Peace&blessings.

vidvidvideooo!

This just shows a bit about how the DTS I am doing is involved with Marine Reach Ministries. I will be taking part in the 'Mercy Ships' part during outreach.

and it begins..

I'll start by saying that I'm new to this so bear with me!
As some of you may know, I'm flying from the homeland in January 2012 to start a 5 month DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) to Tauranga, New Zealand! This blog is something that I would really like to try and keep up for all of my friends and family who are currently and will be supporting me either through prayer, encouragement and funds (or all three ;) ). I'm so excited to tell all my stories of what God is doing in my life and what I'm up to and I hope you are looking forward to hearing cause its going to be crrraazzzzyy!!
Firstly, for those of you who have never heard of DTS's through YWAM- here's the low down. For three months I will be living in community with other people around my age. We have guest speakers come and we we will be listening to lectures, experience God and grow with him, participate in weekly local outreaches, be challenged past our limits and fulfill work duties. For the remaining 2 months we will sail on a ship to the Asian- Pacific islands (specific locations arent confirmed until a little while into lecture phase) and reach the unreachable... loving on people and helping out however and wherever we can with the resources we will be given!  The DTS I have chosen has a Medical- Sailing focus which means that during lecture phase, we will be trained to give free health care on outreach and help with simple surgeries like cataract eye surgery, and dental work! As the base is on the east coast of the north island, we will also do some sailing training before we leave for outreach.
Having that said.. God has placed this opportunity in my life to make him known. It is an incredible chance for me to live out my passions and seek the ones in need and be Jesus' hands and feet. I hope you are as stoked as I am!! If you have taken the time to read this and would like to be involved in some way.. message me on facebook or comment or something on this (I honestly am way too new to this blogging thing) because I would love to answer any questions you have and encouragement is always welcomed!
Blessings!
